A little over a week ago Google announced the public release of the SDK for the assistant. I wondered at the time how long it would take for someone to utilize both the Amazon Voice SDK and the Google Assistant SDK on a single device. At the time this was just an interesting concept that I did not think would see the light of day for a while, well I was wrong.
A few weeks back a Google product manager gave an indication that the UK release date for the Google Home was forthcoming and it should be expected to be around May. Well, today Google have officially announced the release date as being April 6th.
Google has finally confirmed roughly when the Google Home will be released in the UK. During an interview with the BBC at the Mobile World Conference, Google's Rick Osterloh confirmed that Google's home assistant would be released by the end of June.
So this year Amazon have not showcased any new products or even any enhancements to their current product lineup. Therefore you would expect Amazon to be overshadowed at CES. Far from it, Amazon has had no need to announce any products as everybody else appears to be announcing Amazon tie-ins instead.
