New Smart Lock Functionality For Smart Home Skills

Amazon have today announced new upcoming functionality for their Smart Home Skills API.

Up until now if you wished to control a smart lock you would have needed to first initiate a skill and call the command within the skill however now the Smart Home Skills API has been extended to introduce the following intents:

  • GetLockStateRequest
  • GetLockStateResponse
  • SetLockStateRequest
  • SetLockStateConfirmation

At present these are only available in the US however I expect these to become available fairly quickly. At present locks supported are manufactured by Yale, Schlageand August as well as those that work with the Wink and Smart Things boxes. Moving forward we can expect the list of supported locks to grow.
