AVS Device SDK Opened Up For Commercial Use

Over the past year, there have been many stories of device manufacturers working on implementing Alexa into their devices. These ranged from the Lenovo Smart speaker right through to Ford Cars.

On August the 17th Amazon finally released the Alexa Voice Service Device Software Development Kit (SDK) for commercial use. The SDK provides a myriad of libraries written in C++ which handle the processing of audio input as well as providing a persistent connection with the Amazon Voice Service (AVS).

Google declaring war? Assistant SDK Released!

Google have recently announced the release of the SDK for their Google Assistant. This is of course in line with a lot of Google properties and allows 3rd party developers to create devices that utilize the Google Assistant technology. Amazon has of course had an SDK available for some time which has proved to be very popular with many manufacturers such as Lenovo, Ford and Huawei deciding to implement Alexa into their devices (big and small). We can fully expect the same to occur for Google.

New Alexa Skills SDK For PHP

1 thing I noticed when starting to create skills is the lack of PHP SDK (or that I could find anyway). So I decided to start my own.

Over the last couple of days I have started work on the SDK. Although it is currently a long way off things are shaping up nicely.

If you are interested in using the SDK you can find it over on Github. In the repository you will find an examples folder. This has some useful examples to help get you started.
